22nd Annual Walk Run for the Animals
The Humane Society for Southwest Washington celebrated its 21st Annual Walk/Run for the Animals on Saturday, May 4 raising more than $55,000to help fund programs and services offered in southwest Washington.
More than 800 animal enthusiasts and 500 companion animals, including a ferret and a miniature horse, gathered in downtown Vancouver’s Esther Short Park to show their support and celebrate companion animals. The annual event also kicked off national “Be Kind to Animals Week.”
Event participants took in the early morning walk and run along the Columbia riverfront before enjoying more than 40 booths in Vendor Village, diving into a pancake breakfast sponsored by Elmer’s, entering their pets in talent contests, taking in the sounds of local alternative bluegrass bandJawbone Flats, and other activities throughout the park.
