November 27, 2023

When Cora arrived at HSSW she had been living outside – she was limping and in need of medical care. Our clinic team examined her and found that an old injury to her back left leg; Cora’s limp was likely the result of a broken leg that hadn’t healed properly. Repairing the damage wasn’t possible, Cora would need to have her leg amputated.

Life on three legs isn’t unusual for pets – and most of them adapt quickly and live long, healthy lives. Cora was no exception. After a few days to recover from surgery, Cora was eating well, playing, and sharing head butts with our team. She was ready to find a new home.

She was placed in a colony at HSSW – she had a cozy bed for naps, lots of toys, and loved curling up in the laps of staff and volunteers. It wasn’t long before this sweet and playful tripod charmed a lucky family and Cora was adopted.

Today, Cora is far from the life of a stray with a broken leg. She is safe, loved, and living the happy life she deserves.

Thanks to the support from donors like you, Cora found the lifesaving care she needed to life a happy, healthy life. Your generosity and kindness make a difference for her and the hundreds of pets in our care every day. And when you donate today for Giving Tuesday, you can ensure we will always be here for pets who need us.
