Finding a New Home

Making the decision to find a new home for your pet is difficult. We're here to help. HSSW is the only open-admission shelter in Clark County. All healthy, adoptable animals remain here at HSSW until they meet their new family.

This service is currently limited to emergency-only placement in order to best support the needs of the animals in our community and in our care.

If You Need to Surrender Your Pet

Please make an appointment. Making an appointment allows us to be prepared to best support you and your pet. Please email [email protected] or 360.213.2621.

Surrender fees apply when surrendering your pet. These fees help us provide care, shelter, and food to your pet while he or she is in our care. Fees will vary, but average $50-$75 (cats) $50-$155 (dogs).

If your animal is coming from out of state, he or she must be accompanied by a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection and proof of current Rabies vaccination. Washington State law prohibits us from accepting animals without this documentation.

Rehoming Resources

If you prefer to not surrender your pet, there are rehoming resources available in our community. Click here for more information.
